Lasith Malinga to fly back to Sri Lanka

The Sri Lankan cricket team is yet to win a game in this year’s ICC Cricket World Cup as the weather has not been kind to them, washing out two of their games, which has now made things difficult for them going ahead into the tournament.

After the abandonment of the game against Bangladesh, experienced Sri Lankan pacer Lasith Malinga has flown back to Sri Lanka in order to attend the funeral of his late mother in law who passed away on Tuesday.

Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has confirmed that the pacer has been given special permission to return home, but he is expected to fly back to England right after the funeral of late Mrs. Kanthi Perera and join the squad before the next game.
