Pakistan’s World Cup chances have been dealt a huge blow as they crashed to a 41-run loss to Australia. Currently ranked 8th in the points table, Pakistan face the tough task of winning all their remaining games in the group stage, to strengthen their hopes of qualifying for the semi-finals.
Amidst the distressing times in the aftermath of the Australia defeat, Pakistan’s senior all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez penned a tweet wishing birthday to his batting idol Javed Miandad. While Hafeez’s well-intentioned tweet had a positive message, the timing of the social media post was questioned vehemently by fans.
Hafeez’s tweet was soon flooded by angry replies from hordes of fans, who suggested the veteran all-rounder and his teammates to instead focus on winning games.
Hafeez looked in crisp touch in the match against Australia but failed to capitalize on his strong start, as he swept a full-toss from part-timer Aaron Finch straight down the throat of the man in the deep.
