India’s prolific all-rounder Hardik Pandya has expressed his desire to lift the World Cup trophy, come July 14 at the iconic venue of Lord’s. In an interview with the International Cricket Council (ICC), Pandya shared his feelings participating in cricket’s showpiece event and disclosed that it was always his dream to play for India on the biggest stage.
“(Playing for) India means everything to me, this is my life. I am someone who plays the game with love and passion and loves challenges. For two-three years, I have been preparing for this (World Cup) so the time has come,” the swashbuckling cricketer said.
He sought inspiration from MS Dhoni’s brilliant World Cup campaign in 2011 which helped India achieve their second world title. He felt that India’s current team was also quite strong and gelled together under the leadership of Virat Kohli.
