Highlights: Pakistan’s middle order fails badly against India

The tournament favorites India were up against a mercurial Pakistan side in the much anticipated World Cup clash at the Old Trafford in Manchester.

However, it turned out to be a one-sided affair as team India dominated the match right from the word go. After putting up a mammoth total of 336, Pakistan batters were never really in the game.

Rohit Sharma (140) brought up another century against Pakistan and he ended up as the top scorer of the side followed by Virat who scored a brilliant 77.

Pakistan lost Imam-ul-Haq early and Babar Azam joined Fakhar Zaman in the middle to rebuild the innings. The duo was able to put up a significant partnership until Kuldeep Yadav decided to spoil the party for Pakistan.

After getting rid of Babar Azam with an absolute beauty, Kuldeep earned the wicket of Fakhar Zaman quickly and that’s where the collapse started for Pakistan.

The experienced middle-order pair of Shoaib Malik and Mohammad Hafeez couldn’t take Pakistan out of trouble and too many runs were left for the tail-enders to get.
