After two defeats, Bangladesh got back on the winning track by overpowering West Indies in a thrilling encounter. Winning the toss, the Bangladeshi Tigers decided to bowl first which looked horrible till the end of first innings as West indies piled up a formidable total of 321.
However, Bangladesh showed great character in the second game where they were once again led by the batting heroics of sensational all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan to register victory by 7 wickets. The talismanic cricketer produced his second century of the tournament to help his team gain 2 crucial points and bossed the batting charts of the 50-over competition.
Coming in at 52-1, Bangladesh needed their senior pro to step up and he obliged by producing his career-best batting innings. The 32-year old mustered 124 runs of just 99 balls with the help of 16 fours which provided his unit the much needed impetus to chase down a daunting total. Doing so, the proficient player also went past 6000 ODI runs and he couldn’t have picked a better occasion to do it.
Not only that, Shakib also claimed crucial scalps of Evin Lewis and Nicholas Pooran to dent West Indian batting progress. After producing an iconic performance, it was no surprise to see him flying away with another player of the match award.
