Malik admonishes Pak media for wrongful reporting

Pakistan’s veteran all-rounder Shoaib Malik has broken his silence on a recent viral video depicting him sitting alongside fellow players and his wife Sania Mirza at a sheesha bar in England. The media had reported that these visuals were from the night before the high-stakes clash against India on June 16.

However, Malik has clarified the trip to the restaurant was in fact made three days prior to the match and lambasted his country’s media for sensationalizing non-issues and interfering the personal lives of the players.

The 37-year-old lamented the state of the media and called for their proper accountability in the case of spreading false news. He asked fans instigated by biased reporting, to keep out the players’ families out of their cricket discussions and proceed with constructive criticism for the betterment of the team.

Malik was dismissed for a golden duck against India, further denting his already abysmal record in England. His place in the team now looks uncertain, having scored just 8 runs in 3 games at the World Cup.
