The ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 would not remain an open contest if the points gap between the top 4 sides and the others continues to increase. The teams down the order must bring their A game to the table in order to make things interesting from here on.
Pakistan, currently ranked on the 9th number in the table, is on the brink of elimination from the tournament after winning only 1 game out of 5 so far. However, all-rounder Imad Wasim still believes that his side would make it to the knockout stage if it plays good enough cricket in upcoming games.
“This was a really, really disappointing result for us. When we came back on after the rain there was very little we could do, but we know we have four matches left and if we win those, we still have a chance. Results of the other countries may come into play. From our point of view, we can only do what we can. What is in our hands is to try to win all four games and take it from there,” he said after the India game.”
