ECB provides injury update on Jason Roy

Flamboyant England opener, Jason Roy will miss England’s next two World Cup matches against Afghanistan (June 18) and Sri Lanka (June 21) respectively after the England Cricket Board (ECB) confirmed he had suffered a hamstring tear during the match against West Indies.

The opener will continue to be assessed by the medical team over the next week for monitoring his recovery. Roy will be replaced by James Vince for the match against bottom-ranked side Afghanistan at Old Trafford and Friday's meeting with Sri Lanka at Headingley.

Roy’s injury highlights the opportunity squandered by Alex Hales, who was ejected from the World Cup squad during the team’s pre-season training camp in Cardiff following news of a second failed test for recreational drug use.
