Rashid Khan had a horrendous day in the field as he received a brute thrashing from the England batters who racked up a mammoth total of 397 that proved to be too much for the Afghan team. While Rashid suffered the most expensive spell in World Cup history, a ‘spirit of cricket’ moment with Jonny Bairstow provided some viewing pleasure for fans of the leg-spinner.
The 20-year-old Rashid and England’s opening batsman Baristow both play for the former Indian Premier League (IPL) title-holders Sunrisers Hyderabad. Their deep bond formed during the IPL was on display during the Afghanistan-England game as the two shared a lighthearted moment on the field.
It seems Bairstow’s long hours in the nets against Rashid for the Sunrisers have been truly beneficial for the aggressive player as he easily coped with the leggie’s variations and proceeded to punish him with a straight six.
