Old Trafford witnessed a record-breaking game at the World Cup as England captain Eoin Morgan led a relentless assault on Afghanistan’s bowling attack in a thumping 150-run win. The England captain struck the highest number of sixes in an individual ODI innings, 17, as he smashed 148 off 71 balls.
Morgan´s tally surpassed the record of 16 previously shared by India´s Rohit Sharma, South Africa´s AB de Villiers and West Indies´ Chris Gayle -- whose 16 sixes in his 215 against Zimbabwe in 2015 was the previous record at a World Cup.
Morgan’s brutal innings made Twitter berserk with praises for the left-hander as they were left awe-struck by the incredible innings from England’s captain.
