Pakistan’s journey in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 tournament hasn’t been impressive as the green team won their only game against the top-ranked England side. In the ongoing cricket gala in England and Wales, they witnessed a loss and a wash-out against West Indies and Sri Lanka respectively before getting knocked down by defending champions Australia and arch-rivals India.
However, the biggest positive so far from tournament has been the bowling form of skillful pacer Mohammad Amir who is running riot in the 10-team event. Sitting comfortably as the joint-highest leading wicket-taker of the competition, the 27-year old has claimed 13 scalps in 36 overs he delivered. Giving away only 170 runs at an economy of 4.72, Amir also produced 3 maidens.
On the other hand, all the other bowlers seem to struggle as their combined figures bred only 14 wickets at the expense of 915 runs. Moreover, the economy of 7.22 is alarming which is denting the progress of the boys in green. Now that Pakistan is on the verge to get eliminated, it remains to be seen if the bowling department gets their act together.
