The Indian cricket team has been going along nicely in the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 as it currently lies at the 4rd position on the points table after registering 3 victories in 4 fixtures.
The blue shirts had to suffer a major blow after opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan fractured his thumb while batting in one of the earlier games and was eventually ruled out of the tournament.
After the opener’s departure, team India is looking at another niggle in the squad as all-rounder Vijay Shankar had to leave the practice session halfway due to a bad hit to his toe. However, the injury does not seem to be too serious as Shankar tried batting for a while in the nets the next day i.e., on Thursday.
Vijay adds great value to the Indian team in the middle order as he could use the long handle when needed apart from bowling some effective variations in the middle overs.
