Former Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Najam Sethi has lashed out at Prime Minister Imran Khan for publicly providing advice to captain Sarfraz Ahmed during the ongoing World Cup. Pakistan lost miserably to India in a highly anticipated match of the World Cup.
Prime Minister Imran Khan has been very active on his Twitter handle since the start of the ongoing World Cup and has been very vocal with his advice to the team and captain, Sarfaraz Ahmed. However, Sethi believes PM Khan should have conveyed his message privately to the captain.
“No matter how much cricket one has played but a PM shouldn’t be saying things to captain publicly. If he had to say anything to him, he should have conveyed to him privately,” he said. “It brought Sarfaraz in unnecessary pressure and criticism for not listening to it.”
Pakistan is at the second last spot in the points table and faces an uphill battle to qualify for the final four. Pakistan's remaining matches are against South Africa, New Zealand, Afghanistan and Bangladesh.
