Women cricket nominated for the “Commonwealth games” in Birmingham 2002

Emphatic news for the cricket fans broke out as the Women Cricket has been nominated for "Commonwealth Games in Birmingham 2022". The application of this proposal was pursued by ICC and ECB (England Cricket Board) jointly.

This historic move by the Commonwealth Federation was applauded by the whole cricket community. The application for inclusion of women's cricket for the 2022 tournament is part of the global ambition for cricket to empower women around the world. It also aims to drive greater levels of inclusivity and opportunity throughout the sport and develop inspiration in young girls who are eager to play cricket.

This step by Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) is backed up everyone and ICC and ECB are very thankful to the federation for approving their request. The inclusion of cricket in Commonwealth games will inculcate the love of cricket in other countries as well where the exposure of cricket is not much notable.
