Afghanistan cricket has found itself in the center of a controversy owing to issues between its cricket board and some of the players. The shock sacking of skipper Asghar Afghan on the cusp of the announcement of the World Cup squad led star leg-spinner Rashid Khan and veteran all-rounder Mohammad Nabi to protest Afghanistan Cricket Board’s (ACB) decision.
Reflecting on the scenario and dismissing all rumors of a strained relationship with Gulbadin, Rashid claimed that his sole loyalty lay towards making Afghanistan proud. He was thus not keen on standing by individuals but instead desired stability in the team.
“Neither do I play for Gulbadin nor for the cricket board. I play for the flag, for Afghanistan. I know what my job is and I will continue doing that. That tweet by me or Nabi, wasn’t in support of Asghar. We raised our voice for the betterment of Afghanistan cricket,” the leg-spinner stated in an interview.
