Pakistan has come under a lot of criticism recently, especially in the aftermath of their humiliating defeat against India at Old Trafford. Unable to put up a strong fight, Sarfaraz Ahmed’s men were swept away by a dominant performance from India leaving many question marks on the lethargic attitude of the players on the field.
Legendary swing bowler Wasim Akram has, however, come to the aid of Sarfaraz by claiming his action of yawning on the field which was captured on the cameras, should not be criticized so much. Wasim said Sarfaraz is gentlemanly in character and that yawn was probably due to stressing on the field in the face of a pressure situation.
Similarly, he defended the players for the vitriolic social media campaign that has attacked players for partying late night. Wasim claimed there are more strict curfews in place than in the past due to the ICC Anti-Corruption Unit, hence it would not make sense for players to be spending time late night ahead of an important clash in the World Cup and the pictures circulating around the internet were from 3-4 days ago.
