The Sri Lankan cricket team has had an interesting couple of weeks in the United Kingdom (UK) as they have gone from being down and out due to apparently inadequate facilities and washouts to defeating the number one ODI team and tournament favourites, England.
Many Sri Lankan experts had previously raised their voice regarding the contrast in quality of pitches being provided to the hosts and the Islanders. Before the start of the England game, former Sri Lankan cricketer Russell Arnold raised the same point as it was being regarded as a batting paradise.
He sarcastically criticized the International Cricket Council (ICC) for yet another batting pitch for England while he called it unfair for Sri Lanka which had been getting difficult pitches.
However, the pitch at Headingly turned out to be the complete opposite of what it seemed to be before the game as both sides struggled to score freely due to the lack of pace and bounce in the wicket.
