Coming to England, Pakistan was carrying the rising fast-bowling sensation Shaheen Shah Afridi as their key pacer. However, few bad outings saw the green team dropping their ace player. Shaheen played a game against Australia where he registered a reasonable outcome but faced axing against India. Then the speedster was roped in the side to face South Africa where he once delivered an ordinary outing.
However, Wasim Akram, one of the iconic figures of the cricketing world, isn’t ready to drop him from the team. Former Pakistan captain has recently shared his views about the journey of Pakistan in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 tournament where the green team has struggled to pick early wickets. While Mohammad Amir has shown form but a major chunk of his wickets came in his later spells.
To dissect the early wickets dilemma, the 53-year old urged the think tank not to repeat the mistake of benching Shaheen. The Lahore born believes that the 19-year old faced a harsh treatment despite being a prolific performer. Wasim added that Amir’s experience combined with Shaheen’s passion could have done wonders for the national team.
