Coming into their 6th game after heavy defeats against top units like India and Australia, Pakistan got their ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 tournament’s journey back on track with a win against South Africa. The green unit batted first to post 308 on the board which was defended brilliantly by an inspired bowling attack giving the unit a much needed 49-run win.
South Africa’s batting horrors was once again highlighted as they were found answerless against quality bowling. Amid all the chaos, the brightest moment of the day for the rainbow nation was to see their gun spinner Imran Tahir becoming the most successful South African bowler in World Cup tournaments.
Leaving behind the great Allan Donald, Tahir stretched his wickets tally to 39 which saw him shattering a 16-year old national record. The 40-year old cricketer was found giving his all as he picked key wickets of Imam-ul-Haq and Fakhar Zaman to dent Pakistan’s batting progress. Tahir also displayed his acrobatic fielding to give his team some chance of winning the game. However, the boys in green proved too much for Proteas.
