In an extremely important game against South Africa, Pakistan recorded an impressive performance to register their 2nd victory in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 tournament. Batting first, Pakistan managed 308 runs by strong contributions from Haris Sohail and Babar Azam. Later, the boys in green showed their bowling class by restricting South Africa to 259, thus managing a 49-run victory.
Without a shadow of doubt, the day belonged to the comeback man Haris Sohail who replaced Shoaib Malik. However, it would be unwise to forget the class of Babar Azam as the proficient batsman absorbed all the pressure during a precarious situation. Moreover, the 24-year old joined hands with Haris Sohail to form a crucial 81-run partnership.
Doing so, the Lahore born recorded his second half-century of this World Cup as he amassed 69 runs consuming only 80 balls. It was good to see Pakistan’s key batsman rising up to the occasion and performing strongly.
The Lahore born looked good for a century but lost his wicket while accelerating in the later part of the innings. Nevertheless, Babar will have at least three more chances of touching the golden three-figure mark in the ongoing mega-event in England and Wales.
