The arch-rivals were up against each other in the 32nd match of the ICC World Cup 2019. England won the toss and decided to field first and the opening pair of Australia made sure that England regrets their decision later.
Both David Warner & captain Aaron Finch reached their 50s in no time and provided Australia with the best possible start.
Finch continued his supreme form as he scored yet another ton in the ongoing tournament. Australia finished at 285-7 in their 50 overs courtesy a comeback by England’s bowlers in the later part of the innings.
However, the hosts were put under immense pressure as their top order collapsed badly at the hands of Jason Behrendorff & Mitchell Starc.
Jason took his maiden 5-wicket haul and Starc provided great support as well taking 4 important wickets including the prized scalp of Ben Stokes who was batting like a lone warrior.
