Pakistani fast bowler Mohammad Amir is having a dream run in the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 as he is among the top wicket takers in the tournament after being initially left out of the squad for the mega event.
Amir has taken a total of 15 wickets in 6 games at an impressive economy rate of just 4.76 which has been a blessing in disguise for the green shirts in the tournament as the other bowlers have not been as consistent throughout.
Head coach Mickey Arthur has been really impressed with the remarkable turnaround of Amir as he backed him to improve even further and build on the confidence that he has gained so far.
“I’ve always said that Amir is a very smart bowler. He backs his skills and his skills are excellent. He works incredibly hard but now he has that pace back and is bowling with a confidence he didn’t have before. His confidence waned and waned and waned but now he’s got spring back in his step, he’s swinging the ball again and bowling with extra pace. You can see the glint in his eye – which is a really good sign. That’s just confidence,” he said.
