Pakistan’s timely win against New Zealand at the World Cup has revived their hopes of making it to the semi-finals. Coming from behind to achieve two victories on the trot, Pakistan are finally peaking at the right and look to make a dramatic entry into the top four sparking off comparisons with Pakistan’s epic 1992 World Cup campaign.
The only World Cup title the Green Shirts have accomplished to date, that tournament also featured a complete reversal of fortunes for Imran Khan’s team when they looked out of the competition. However, current captain Sarfaraz Ahmed has said he doesn’t pay much heed to these comparisons and coincidences and believes in approaching each game on its merits.
“When the World Cup starts, people think that way. But we're not thinking like that. Our focus is the next match. We are very confident and hopefully we'll do well,” Sarfaraz said in the post-match presentation.
