England’s crushing 64-run defeat to Australia at Lord’s has set into motion a lot of backlash from ex-cricketers regarding the hosts’ negative approach to chasing modest totals. Amidst this backdrop, former England batsman Kevin Pietersen directed a tweet at skipper Eoin Morgan for his flawed technique of shuffling to the leg-side to counter Mitchell Starc’s pace.
Pietersen interpreted Morgan’s actions as showing that the left-handed batsman was fearful. However, Pietersen’s assertion was rebuked by Morgan, who felt this was not the case and there were no demons playing in on his mind when he was facing Starc.
This was not the end of the row as the South Africa-born cricketer further uploaded a clip on Twitter depicting the moments Morgan was taking a couple of steps back against the left-arm pacer, adding more fuel to fire.
