Stokes still confident of England's chances

England’s chance of making into the final four takes a hit following the resurgence of the teams like Pakistan and Bangladesh. Now, hosts may need to win both of their remaining group games, against India and against New Zealand, to make the top four, after successive losses to Sri Lanka and Australia.

However, all-rounder, Ben Stokes insists that two consecutive defeats have not yet dented his country's hopes of winning a 50-over World Cup for the very first time. Stokes tried to lift the nation’s spirits after the chastening defeat to Australia at Lord’s, insisting: “This is our World Cup.”

"This is our World Cup. We've had great support over the last four years and we know how much a World Cup means to fans. We know that as players as well. We're not going to take a backward step. This is our World Cup,” he said.
