Babar Azam struck a magnificent century against New Zealand on a pitch that was turning square to take his team over the line and give Pakistan the outside chance of making it to the semi-finals. The way Babar paced his knock and patiently constructed his innings was remarkable depicting great maturity form the youngster.
Commenting on Babar’s batting prowess and his graceful poise, former Pakistan great Mohammad Yousuf compared the 24-year-old with Indian skipper Virat Kohli. Yousuf rated Babar as an equal of the number one ranked batsman and said he is at par with the best batsmen of modern day great.
While Yousuf’s comment did not go down well with Indian fans, Babar’s achievements have been outstanding over the past few years. He has been scoring heavily for Pakistan since he burst onto the scene in international cricket and is the second-fastest to 3000 ODI runs, just behind Hashim Amla.
