The much-talked-about Team India’s ‘orange jersey’ was unveiled by the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) official apparel sponsor Nike. India will wear their alternate orange jersey for the first time when they face hosts England at Birmingham on Sunday.
There is a change in the jersey colour because, both India and England wear blue jerseys, and according to the International Cricket Council regulations, the former will have to sport their away jersey.
“The ODI and Away Kit designs launched this year are inspired by the young new generation of India and the fearless spirit of the national teams," Nike said in a statement. Before the start of the World Cup, ICC introduced a new rule asking the teams to sport home and away jerseys in the tournament.
