Sri Lankan cricket team was outclassed by South Africa in the 35th match of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019. Sri Lanka after being put into bat by the South African captain, Faf du Plessis, only managed to score 203 runs. Chris Morris and Dwaine Pretorius bowled exceptionally well and shared 3 wickets each.
In reply, it was a walk in the park for South African batsmen. Faf du Plessis scored an unbeaten 96 while Hashim Amla remained not out on 80. South Africa chased the target in 37.2 overs with 9 wickets in hand.
It was a crucial match for Sri Lanka, but a heavy defeat against South Africa has dented their road to the semi-finals. Now Sri Lanka has to win their remaining two games and then depend on Pakistan, England, and Bangladesh to make matters worse for themselves in order for the Lanka lions to qualify for the next round.
