The Pakistan cricket team is known to be one of the most mercurial sides in world cricket as it could comprehensively defeat the best team of the world on a given day but could also lose against a low ranked side on the other.
The green shirts were recently involved in a thrilling encounter against Afghanistan as they won the game within the last few deliveries of the match. The roller coaster journey of the Pakistan team during the run chase played with the emotions of the fans equally.
Bowling coach Azhar Mahmood also witnessed the nail bitter from the dressing room as he went through the whole journey with butterflies in his stomach. He called it one of his worst cricketing experiences since he felt quite helpless while sitting in the dugout.
“Throughout my whole career, I think this was the worst moment for me in a dressing room. I was very nervy. Afghanistan wanted to win, and we didn’t want to lose to them in a crucial game, so it was quite nerve-wracking because you can’t control anything when you are in the coaching staff. When you have to bat next, you are ready for that. But sitting in the dugout, it’s definitely very nerve-wracking,” he said.
