Pakistan’s legendary fast bowler Waqar Younis has urged the team to continue with their winning combination in the must-win game against Bangladesh. Pakistan’s prospects of advancing into the semi-finals are very bleak but they will do themselves a lot of favour by winning their match against Bangladesh.
While Waqar was critical of the team despite their victory over Afghanistan, he felt it was more of the mistakes of Gulbadin Naib’s men that allowed Pakistan to sneak over the line in the end in a dramatic contest.
Waqar also shed light on the eerie parallels with Pakistan’s 1992 World Cup title and was of the opinion that they were too similar to ignore. “Even back in 1992, the best year Pakistan cricket has ever known, they started badly before they turned it around. These parallels with 27 years ago are almost impossible to ignore at this point,” he said.
