South Africa’s veteran pacer Dale Steyn has joined the upcoming T20 league, Euro T20 Slam as a marquee player. Steyn is expected to join fellow Proteas stars Imran Tahir and JP Duminy as marquee cricketers alongside the likes of Chris Lynn, Babar Azam and Luke Ronchi for the inaugural edition of the competition.
The three-week event scheduled to commence on August 30, will be co-hosted by Netherlands, Ireland and Scotland, and is expected to do a great service to popularizing the sport in the region. The new tournament also features big names in Eoin Morgan, Shahid Afridi, Rashid Khan and Brendon McCullum, who have been declared as icon players of the league.
Earlier, Steyn’s World Cup campaign was cut short by an injury he sustained during his Indian Premier League (IPL) stint with the Royal Challengers Bangalore. He could not play a single game in the world event and was forced to withdraw after his side’s second match.
