Former Pakistan cricketer Basit Ali recently stirred controversy after he alleged India would be vying hard to make Pakistan’s life tough for qualifying into the semi-finals, by deliberately losing to tournament hosts England.
This comment attracted the attention of Indian off-spinner Harbhajan Singh, who was annoyed by this conspiracy pedaled by Basit. Harbhajan believed such statements only demotivated the Pakistan team since it took the attention away from their efforts on the field.
“What makes him say that? He’s got to be on a different planet in order for him to talk ill like this. That’s probably the way they have played their cricket and that’s how they see the game,” an evidently flustered Harbhajan claimed.
He even called upon Prime Minister Imran Khan to look into Basit’s ridiculous claims of New Zealand intentionally losing the 1992 World Cup game to Pakistan.
