‘Universe Boss’ Chris Gayle has been in exceptional six-hitting form of late and he has shown his extravagant striking abilities during the ongoing World Cup as well. Despite having reached the twilight of his career at the age of 39, Gayle continues to rule ODI cricket with his lusty blows travelling miles into the stands.
During his short stay at the crease against Sri Lanka, Gayle struck two maximums to create a personal record, as he became only the second batsman in ODI history to score more than 50 sixes in a calendar year – the other being South Africa’s master blaster AB de Villiers.
Although we’re just halfway through 2019, Gayle has already bludgeoned 51 sixes while the AB’s record reads 58 sixes that he hit in 2015. The Proteas great’s record could possibly be broken, as Gayle is keen on playing one more home series against India later this year.
