Sri Lanka and West Indies were up against each other in the 39th match of the ICC World Cup 2019. Sri Lanka batted first and scored 338-6 in their 50 overs courtesy a fantastic maiden ton by their young batsman Avishka Fernando. However, West Indies tried hard in their chase but they fell short of just 23 runs.
There was a time when the West Indies had lost half of their side before reaching 150 runs on the board. But still, Nicholas Pooran and Fabian Allen went on to fight hard till the end. Pooran scored a magnificent maiden World Cup hundred followed by Allen’s maiden half-century.
Got to love the West Indies. Even when the target is seemingly beyond reach, they keep going for it.
India’s commentator and analyst Harsha Bhogle was extremely impressed with the way West Indies fought hard in this match. Got to love the West Indies. Even when the target is seemingly beyond reach, they keep going for it.
