Australian speedster Mitchell Starc has been the best bowler in this year’s ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 so far as he has provided Australia with consistent breakthroughs throughout, taking 24 wickets in 8 games.
Starc produced yet another match-winning performance recently as he helped Australia in downing New Zealand by 86 runs at Lord’s. The left-armer broke the back of the opposition batting by taking 5 wickets for just 26 runs.
With that 5-wicket haul, Starc has now become the only bowler in the history of World Cups to take 3 five-wicket hauls along with 6 four-wicket hauls. He surpassed bowlers like Shahid Afridi and Glenn McGrath who had taken 5-wicket hauls twice in their World Cup careers.
The aggressive fast bowler is just 3 wickets away from breaking the record for most wickets in a single edition of the World Cup which is currently held by his countryman, Glenn McGrath (26 wickets in World Cup 2007).
