Fielding has become an integral part of modern-day cricket as all the top sides in the world have specialized fielders at specific positions according to the format. Having vigilant fielding is regarded as important as having quality bowlers or batsmen as a team could not win games if it could not field well these days.
The ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 has already seen some of the best catches in cricket as players have been quite competitive in the outfield to make a mark at the world stage.
Martin Guptill recently added another breathtaking catch to his credit when he caught Steve Smith at leg gully with his left-hand leaping into the air with a fully stretched body. However, Smith was also up to the task when he sensed an opportunity and latched on to an absolute stunner at short midwicket in the same match.
Chris Woakes has been excellent in the field this World Cup as he has already taken two absolute blinders to dismiss Pakistan’s Imam-ul-Haq and India’s Rishabh Pant while diving at the boundary line.
Even though theses catches have been quite brilliant, but the fielding efforts from Ben Stokes and Sheldon Cottrell stood out from the rest as they both took catches out of nowhere and stunned everyone.
