In a crucial game against hosts England, India was defeated which shattered the hopes of not just Indians but the whole of sub-continent as the entire region was rooting for India’s victory. On a good surface, England batted first to muster 337 runs on the board. India fought for the major part of their innings before losing it in the last few overs.
The biggest talking point of the game was the approach of the men in blue in last 5 overs or so as the required rate kept surging with Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Kedar Jadhav looking only for singles. Even the commentary panel raised many questions which were left unanswered. Social media also went berserk to see India throwing their hands up even before the contest was over.
However, India’s captain Virat Kohli defended his team’s approach by applauding English bowlers for delivering a strong performance. Sharing his views at the post match presentation ceremony, the 30-year old said that no one likes to lose but one must not take credit away from the ones who deserve it. The Delhi born added that Dhoni tried his best to get the boundaries but the quality of bowling served as a hindrance. Nevertheless, fans of Pakistan didn’t buy the argument as the approach continuous to get questioned.
