West Indies skipper Jason Holder has lavished praise on star batsman Nicholas Pooran after the left-hander’s outstanding century almost led his team over the line against Sri Lanka in a tight finish. Pooran led a remarkable fightback as he single-handedly punished the Sri Lankan bowlers to the fence, before perishing in the final few moments of the game.
Highlighting the exceeding amount of talent Pooran possesses, Holder opined that it was imperative for the West Indies team management to protect him from any injuries in the future to prolong his career. Holder believed the onus lay on the Caribbean team to “look after” Pooran as he is one exciting player to look out for.
“Yes he will make mistakes as a young player but it is important for development to take place. He needs to learn from scenarios and we all need to learn from scenarios we have been faced with. We will look after Nicholas the best we possibly can, I expect big things. He has got the talent,” Holder said.
