Prime Minister Imran Khan, who simultaneously serves in the capacity of the Patron in Chief of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), has decided to give a nod of approval to the proposed new domestic cricket system in the country.
One of PCB’s top priorities under the new leadership of Ehsan Mani, was to introduce reforms in the existing the system and revamp it to resemble a more region-centric structure. According to sources, Pakistan’s new domestic cricket structure will consist of six regional teams from all the provinces including Gilgit-Baltistan/Azad Kashmir that will participate in first-class cricket.
Additionally, grassroots cricket has been given extra emphasis under the vision laid down by the Prime Minister and it is supposed to follow the footsteps of the new domestic system. This structure will strip departments of their playing rights.
