After a disappointing start to their World Cup campaign, Afghanistan have upped their game to an extent in recent times exhibiting great fight in their encounters against India and Pakistan. Although they are still devoid of a win, their spin trio of Rashid Khan, Mohammad Nabi and Mujeeb ur Rahman has been splendid throughout.
Afghanistan skipper Gulbadin Naib however has lamented the fact that his team lack a genuine pace bowler to trouble oppositions. Packed with medium-pace bowlers not exceeding the 135 kph mark regularly, Afghanistan clearly suffer from a dearth of express fast bowling options.
“If you look over the last two or three years, we’re just depending on spinners, especially when Mujeeb joined the team. We have two spinners in Rashid and Mujeeb. So if you work on the fast bowlers in the last two or three years, maybe we have good pacers now in this tournament,” Naib said.
