The semifinalists of the ICC Cricket World Cup have been finalized after an intense competition among 3 teams for the 4th spot ended in New Zealand’s favor thanks to their superior run rate.
The Pakistan cricket team was knocked out of the race after England’s victory over the Black Caps which set an almost impossible target for them for their last group fixture against Bangladesh.
Former West Indian speedster and current commentator Michael Holding has slammed the International Cricket Council (ICC) for making unreasonable laws for qualification in the biggest event in world cricket.
Holding said that Pakistan should have qualified for the semifinals as they have played much better cricket as compared to New Zealand. He also suggested that teams must be selected based on their head to head results if they get tied with another team before using net run rate as a tool to measure progress.
