Pakistan’s opening batsman Imam-ul-Haq had been consistently flopping in this year’s World Cup as he failed to provide his side with a strong start for the majority of the tournament. However, the young batsman finally delivered in Pakistan’s last league match at the mega-event, scoring his maiden hundred at the World Cup.
The 23-year-old unleashed an exuberant display of strokes as he marched onto the seventh century of his ODI career. In the process, Imam achieved the honor of accumulating a century at the historic venue of Lord’s, becoming just the second Pakistani player to do this in ODIs after Sarfaraz Ahmed.
A gritty innings from the left-handed player, Imam reached the three-digit landmark in 99 deliveries before backpedaling onto his own stumps on the very next ball leading to sad end to his sublime knock.
