Australia batsman Shaun Marsh has been ruled out of the World Cup after he suffered from a broken wrist. Marsh made only two appearances in the 2019 World Cup and copped a lethal blow from right-arm pacer Pat Cummins rendering him unfit for the remainder of the games.
Marsh, who had been unable to make a mark in this tournament, will now be replaced with young middle order batsman Peter Handscomb. The 28-year-old has had a stellar year in ODI cricket thus far as he played an important role in Australia’s 3-2 series win over India earlier in 2019.
With the tournament progressing into the business end of the proceedings, it remains to be seen whether Handscomb will be soon given chance to don the national jersey for the first time at a World Cup.
