Opening batsman Imam-ul-Haq scoring runs and getting criticized right after that isn’t a new story of Pakistan Cricket. Another episode was on display in the last fixture of Pakistan in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 tournament where Imam scored his maiden World Cup century to lead the green team to victory against Bangladesh.

With a match-winning effort, Imam ended the tournament as Pakistan’s second highest run-getter in the mega-event as the 23-year old amassed 305 runs at an average of 38. Despite this, former Pakistan pacer Tanvir Ahmed was found vilifying Imam as the Kuwait born said that Imam’s century deserves to go in a dustbin.

Reflecting on the Lahore born journey, the 40-year old located a picture of nepotism and slammed chief selector and former skipper Inzamam-ul-Haq. Tanvir further opined that Imam is a selfish player who doesn’t contribute to the team’s cause.

This isn’t a new treatment for Imam who usually finds himself in a pool of criticism despite being a prolific performer for the boys in green. It remains to be seen how and when Imam responds to Tanvir’s criticism.
