Pakistan’s maverick batsman, Babar Azam had a profitable World Cup campaign in terms of run scored. The youngster, who was playing in his first ever World Cup, showed his true potential as he became the highest scorer for Pakistan in a World Cup with 474 runs, leaving behind the batting great Javed Miandad.
Due to his impressive show in the mega-event, the 24-year-old has managed to make massive gains in the latest ICC ODI rankings. Babar was earlier at the seventh position and has now climbed four spots to attain the third position with 474 runs in the ICC Men’s World Cup 2019 that included three fifties and one century.
Babar is also currently the No.1 T2OI batsman and is just behind India’s duo of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma who are occupying the first and second positions in ODIs ranking respectively. The right-handed batsman’s career-best ODI ranking is second place, having achieved this back in June 2018.
