South African captain, Faf du Plessis believes that Australian team have a strong belief system and it seems like that they are playing with an extra man on the field given the positivity in their body language. The arch-rivals, England and Australia will square off in the semi-final on Thursday, 11th July.
“The confidence that an Australian team comes into a World Cup with - what was it four or five times that they have lifted the trophy? That confidence is just like an extra player on your team so Australia would be ... they've got a tough game in the semi-final. They would probably prefer playing against New Zealand, so I would say one of Australia or India," Faf said.
The defending champions, Australia, have never lost a World Cup semi-final and are gunning for their sixth title but have lost 12 of their past 15 one-day international matches to England. The host nation has also won all three times they have played Australia at Edgbaston in global one-day tournaments, most recently in 2017.
