Bangladesh cricket authorities announced recently that they were sacking head coach Steve Rhodes following the side’s poor show in the World Cup. Bangladesh finished the World Cup at the eighth position in the points table despite having began their tournament campaign on a strong note.

“We have decided to part ways with the head coach by mutual consent. The decision will be effective immediately,” Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) chief executive officer Nizamuddin Chowdhury said.
The decision came a day after Bangladesh returned home with just three wins in nine games, including a washout. Meanwhile, news has emerged that bowling coach Courtney Walsh’s contract is also unlikely to be renewed. The Caribbean legend’s performance has come under scrutiny after Bangladesh’s pacers had a flop show in the World Cup.
