The Bangladesh cricket team had an unfortunate run in this year’s ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 as it failed to qualify for the semifinals even after playing highly competitive cricket throughout the tournament.
Skipper Mashrafe Mortaza has taken responsibility for his side’s early exit from the tournament as he feels that lack of consistency from players other than Shakib Al Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim proved to be costly at the end.
“As a captain, if I fail to lead the team to expected results, there will always be criticism. I have to take responsibility for the entire team. That’s normal. I take full responsibility as I should. But I would like to say that players face criticisms all around the world, especially after a tournament or series,” he said.
Mortaza applauded youngsters including Mustafizur Rahman and Mohammad Saifuddin as they played exceptionally well in their first showpiece event.
