Jason Roy plays mind games ahead of semi-final clash against Australia

Having an epic semi-final clash against arch-rivals Australia in hand, it is hard to imagine a world where English cricketers won’t be playing the mind games. After Australia’s Nathan Lyon calling ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 event ‘England’s World Cup to lose’, Jason Roy decided to join the debate.

The 28-year old was quick to remind Australia about their unexpected loss against South Africa in the last league fixture of the ongoing mega-event in England and Wales. Roy didn’t undermine Australia’s elite performance against England earlier in the championship, but added that a new day could bring anything. Moreover, the belligerent striker is confident to perform strongly and help England seal a World Cup final berth on Thursday at Birmingham.

Sharing his views, Jason Roy added, “I think them losing to South Africa might have knocked their confidence a bit. When you get to the semi-final stage any team you come up against is going to be a tough ask, mentally and physically. They hammered us at Lord’s but who knows what it is going to bring?”
