Against all the expectations, South Africa had a torrid time in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 tournament as they won only 3 of their 9 games. The strong performers failed to portray their class on the biggest stage and as a result, South Africa was eliminated from the event very early.
With retirements of Imran Tahir and Jean-Paul Duminy, many were expecting skipper Faf du Plessis to do the same. However, the 34-year old hinted towards continuing leading the side at least till the T20 World Cup in Australia which is scheduled to take place in October-November next year.
Sharing his views, the prolific batsman added that he doesn’t want to play games without having a purpose. The moment he loses that purpose; he would look towards quitting his job. As far as his batting is concerned, the Pretoria born amassed 387 runs at 64.50 to prove his batting class. However, Faf added that he’ll relook at his urge and hunger along with South Africa’s future plans. The drop scene of the event is likely to be disclosed in some days.
